what if

blitz thought thou... what if surface grammar is turned into under-surface grammar? red cable arteries & blue cable veins & pulsary screen-heart? sandra was talking about getting to some point... true... but thinking of the possibilities is so much... geniessbar ;) oder? doch!

just a short animation to show you the geometry of the basic element...

One single object is divided in three different surfaces. We tried to analyze the surfaces for the fabrication process. But we are not sure about the technical possibilities we have... Maybe you can give us some hints in order to continue our work. ;-)
just a view renderings to show you the different possible combinations of the basic element. Blossom-type 3 is now able to be arranged directly related to the tessellation geometry...
These are studies of non-symmetrical deformations of our basic tessellation in order to avoid overlapping of the single source objects.

Type B is a solid surface. The gaps are created by connecting the single elements...

Type A is an additive system with a strict relation between gap and form. The single source objects are overlapping themselves. But because of there transformation along the z-axis they never intersect each other...
That's my source-tessellation based on a variation of the Sierpinski fractal system and the extracted source curves for preparing the delamination process... The idea was to smooth the linear connections and to deform them simultaneously along the z-axis. The result was a variation of a blossom-like structure... :-)
A tower designed by 6a Architects in London’s Covent Garden Piazza. In collaboration with fashion designer Eley Kishimoto.
Originally designed to promote the gallery space at the Architecture Foundation. The pattern that adorns the outside of the tower was apparently inspired by Rapunzel’s hair; climb up and you’ll be rewarded with a rather sweet viewing gallery, six metres up in the air (but, alas, no hirsute ladies).

Studio Reader

For everyone: This is the Reader of the Surface Grammar Studio. Highly Recommended readings for Advanced Architecture Theory. It is available from the Architecture Theory Office desk..

You are not alone...
